About the Camp
The camp is located in Guelaguichi, a small Zapotec village that’s 20 minutes
away from Salina Cruz. His camp is the closest to the famous barrels of Punta
Escondida and he’s only minutes away from Conejo, Chivo, Chipehua and Bamba.

Chemel’s Surf Camp is fully air conditioned and has fast wifi. The dorm style rooms are clean and spacious, have private bathrooms and there’s a large lounge room and big screen TV.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner, cooked by Chemel’s wife Luz is hearty and delicious classic Mexican fare – enchiladas, mole, chilaquiles and fresh fish. The open kitchen offers plenty of space to store your beers and to mix margaritas at end of a long surf day
Chemel Guzman is one of the original local surfers from Salina Cruz. He’s been guiding surfers in the area for over 20 years. He’s worked for the likes of Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Dane Reynolds, Julian Wilson and many others.
He has full access to all of the amazing waves in the region within a four-hour radius to Puerto Escondido and beyond. He’s a friendly, engaging person and he knows literally everyone. He’s a skilled, careful off-road driver and you’ll feel extremely safe and protected in his hands.
